The musical output of Alaska may be modest in comparison with the Twin Cities, but Anchorage has long had a supportive and active arts community that just seems to be growing. 2013 was a particularly exciting year, with several musicians who have become local favorites through their live performances releasing much-anticipated studio debuts. These are the five songs that stood out to me in year that gave Alaskan artists much to be excited about.
1. "Land Before Aids" – Historian
2. "To What Degree?" – Smile Ease
3. "Early Echoes" – Ghost Hands
4. "Olivia" – Anna Lynch
5. "Gene Mo" – SJ & Drums
